Sage's Healthy Dips: Homemade Tzatziki & Hummus
Here's what you'll need for the Tzatziki:
- 2 cups of plain greek yogurt
- 1-2 english cucumbers, grated or finely chopped
- 1-2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of fresh ground pepper
- (Optional: 1 tablespoon of fresh dill)
Tzatziki Instructions:
- Mix all of the ingredients together until combined.
- Garnish with a drizzle of olive oil and a slice or two of cucumber, and serve with warm pita bread.
Here's what you'll need for the Hummus:
- 1 (15 ounce) can of chickpeas/garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
- 4 tablespoons of tahini
- 1/4 cup of water
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
- (Optional: 1 tablespoon of roasted pine nuts)
- 1/2 teaspoon himalayan salt
Hummus Instructions:
- Place all of the ingredients in a food processor and blend until it reaches desired consistency. Adjust to taste for flavor with any of the above ingredients.
- Garnish with chickpeas, pine nuts, parsley or paprika - and serve with warm pita bread or veggies.
I found the original recipe for the tzatiki on Gimme Some Oven, and the hummus from Simple Veganista. A few small changes to taste here and there, and voila!
