Sage's Healthy Dips: Homemade Tzatziki & Hummus

Sage's Healthy Dips: Homemade Tzatziki & Hummus

Here's what you'll need for the Tzatziki:

  • 2 cups of plain greek yogurt
  • 1-2 english cucumbers, grated or finely chopped
  • 1-2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of fresh ground pepper
  • (Optional: 1 tablespoon of fresh dill)

Tzatziki Instructions:

  1. Mix all of the ingredients together until combined.
  2. Garnish with a drizzle of olive oil and a slice or two of cucumber, and serve with warm pita bread.

Here's what you'll need for the Hummus:

  • 1 (15 ounce) can of chickpeas/garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
  • 4 tablespoons of tahini
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • (Optional: 1 tablespoon of roasted pine nuts)
  • 1/2 teaspoon himalayan salt

Hummus Instructions:

  1. Place all of the ingredients in a food processor and blend until it reaches desired consistency. Adjust to taste for flavor with any of the above ingredients.
  2. Garnish with chickpeas, pine nuts, parsley or paprika - and serve with warm pita bread or veggies.
I found the original recipe for the tzatiki on Gimme Some Oven, and the hummus from Simple Veganista. A few small changes to taste here and there, and voila!
