Mama Szabo's Baked Italian Sandwiches
Here's what you'll need:
- 2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
- 1/2 pound deli salami, sliced
- 1/2 pound deli provolone cheese, sliced
- 1/2 pound prosciutto
- 7 eggs
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 (6 ounce) jars spicy roasted red peppers, drained
Instructions:
- Heat oven to 350°F.
- Spray a 13x9 inch glass baking dish with cooking spray.
- Unroll one package of crescent rolls and use them to line the bottom of the dish, seaming the dough together with your fingers.
- Use half of the salami and prosciutto and add a layer off meat on top of the crescent rolls.
- Next, add a layer of provolone cheese.
- Lightly beat 6 of the eggs with the parmesan.
- Pour half of the egg mixture over top of the deli meat and cheese.
- Top this layer with half of the red peppers.
- Repeat layering the remaining salami, prosciutto, provolone, egg mixture and peppers.
- Top with remaining package of rolls.
- Lightly beat the 1 remaining egg and brush over top.
- Cover dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for another 30 minutes.
- Cool 1 hour; cut into 32 squares and serve.
This is one of Mama Szabo's favorite quick and easy appetizers. This one was inspired by Food.com's recipe, with a substitute ingredient or two to add a little kick.
